Easton turns 2!

My Sweet Easton boy is two! I can't believe it! He has been the biggest joy in our lives. He is such a good kid, and even though he started 'acting two' overnight, I think we will still keep him! He is so funny, strong, smart and athletic.

  • He weighs 33.14 lb. (90-95%)
  • He is 36 inches tall (75-90%)
  • His head is 50.5 cm. (90-95%)
  • He is wearing 3T clothes
  • A very picky eater! Still only eats chicken nuggets, and grilled chicken for his meats. If we are lucky he might take a single bites of a hot dog. He doesn't eat vegetables unless they are in a puree food pouch ("sauce" as we call them).
  • He loves his fruits, juice, chocolate milk, and treats. Anything crunchy, like chips, he will love. He loves to eat tortilla chips dipped in guacamole (let's be real though....pretty much no guacamole, he just pretends to dip them with us.)
  • He is talking up a storm, and can make two word sentences.
  • If you ask him how old he is, he will respond "I tuuu!" and hold up his hand with his two fingers glued together, he hasn't figured out how to hold them up while seperated.
  • We have a couple 'naughty' word slip ups: Clock, and Fork...you can use your imagination! And for some reason he loves to yell these words! In Sacrament meeting he always has to point out the clock on the wall, and I want to die!
  • He LOVES Despicable Me, calling is "asipcible me?!" He thinks Dr Gru, and the min'mins, and loves to shout 'freeze ray!' when Gru shoots it.
  • He is doing good with potty training if I would be more diligent about it. He doesn't like to sit on his little potty seat anymore, if he needs to pee, he will stand, or sit backwards on the potty. And to poop, he will sit either backwards or forwards. He knows when he needs to go, and tells me, The other day he even held it for about 15 minutes until we got home. (wahoo!!)
  • He is really good at basketball, his t-ball, and is getting better at catching things.
  • He likes the watch the Gi-Gi's with his dad. (The Giants) and recognized Buster Posey on a poster while we were out awhile ago, by pointed and saying "a posey?"
For his party this year, we did a big pool party with all our friends here. We grilled hot dogs for everyone, had chips, watermelon, carrots and celery, and juices and waters. The kids loved it, and afterward we had a big cake I made. I was so proud of this cake! It turned our just how I wanted it to, and Easton loved it! He thought the cake was the party, so when Ryan brought it out he chased after him while yelling "THE PARTY THE PARTY!!!"
He was so spoiled this year, and got so many toys and cards from friends, grandparents, aunts, and us. He got a bubble machine, a Leap Pad 2, pool toys, a new beach towel, money, an animal trains, monster trucks, cars, Mickey/Disney toys, a Mr. Potato Head, a ball, a Mickey movie, and much more!

On his actual birthday, Monday, Ryan started school back up. So I took him to the Henderson Multigen pool with Haley and her kids. He wasn't too much a fan of it, I don't think he likes all the water spraying on him and dumping on him. Afterwards we went home, and he took a nap, and then when he was up, Ryan had gotten home and we took him to a movie. We went to Despicable Me 2. He was so excited for the BIG TV! We got him his on movie snack pack, which he thought was incredible. He loved to sit on his own seat and be a big kid. He ended up watching most of the movie on Ryan's lap, but he didn't last the whole time. He got restless and was running around the theater, so we took him home early.

We had a super fun weekend celebrating our little guy. He is the best, and we can't wait to keep watching him grow!

Happy 4th of July!

Our Fourth of July was awesome this year! We are so lucky to have so many friends here in Las Vegas, that we got to have two parties to celebrate the holiday! The first one was on the 3rd, and we had a bunch of our neighbors over to our house for a BBQ, then we headed up to the park's parking lot for fireworks. It was so much fun, we had The Stanger's, The Westwood's, The Cox's, The Pettit's, and The Hawkes here, so in total there were 12 adults, 8 kids, and 5 babies! It was a houseful, but so much fun! We ate a ton of delicious food, and the kids loved the fireworks afterward. Maybe Easton didn't love them so much. He plugged his ears the whole time, and made sure our arms were snug around him the whole time!

The next day, we slept in, and hung out most of the day until it was time to go to the Harris' for a pool party/BBQ. We headed over around 4, and met up with the Cowdin's and Gatewood's as well. The kids loved swimming, and all the dad's were awesome to watch them while we got the meal ready. We grilled hamburgers, and had a ton of delicious sides to go along with them. After swimming, we all drove out to Boulder City, to watch the Damboree Fireworks. We went last year while Ryan's family was visiting and we had so much fun, that we decided to make it a tradition. The firework show was beautiful, and we had a great spot right in the middle of the field in front of the the musicians and all the yummy food trucks. Easton didn't love the sound again, but I think he liked the fireworks better when they were in the sky vs. on the ground in front of him, even though they were so much bigger! He again, made sure either me or Ryan was holding him nice and tight, and kept his ears plugged, but he didn't take his eyes off of them the whole time.
oh Ryan...

Happy day. He is my world!
It was such a great holiday, I love celebrated the 4th, especially surrounded by such awesome friends. I love that we are starting to make our own traditions here in Vegas, and the longer we are here, the more it feels like home. We are so lucky to live where we are, and in the country we are in!

Update on Infertility

I don't really know what to call this stage of my life. I hate identifying myself with 'infertility' not because I'm ashamed or there is something wrong with it, I just hate the way it consumes you.
Last I wrote about everything was in January, I had done one round of Follistim injections, which didn't work, and I was ready for a break. Well, I took a break, it was awesome, and really good for me to feel like myself again.
I didn't want to wait too long before starting on the injections one last time. Dr. Swainston told me that we could move my dose of injections up one more time, but if that still didn't work then, after that he would need to refer me to a fertility specialist. So in May I went back, and got the injections again, went home, started my Provera (medication that makes my menstrual cycle start). Once I started my cycle, I realized that we would be in Utah during the time I needed to do the injections and go in for my  follicle count ultrasounds and blood tests. So I called the office, and they said I needed to wait until I got back since they didn't want me to be traveling while on the Follistim injections schedule.
So, once we got back, I started on the Provera again, finally got my cycle to start, and went in for my first follicle count ultrasound. While I was there, Dr. Swainston saw something on the screen that concerned him. He asked if I was pregnant, it seemed like it was a miscarriage because there was no heartbeat, and my heart dropped. He also thought it may be a cyst or polyp, but they had me do a pregnancy test to make sure. The test came back negative. So they scheduled me to come back for a second ultrasound a week later, at the end of my cycle, to see if whatever it was had passed or was still there.
I went in for that ultrasound last week, the tech doing it didn't seem to see anything that she thought would be cause for concern, but when I talked to Dr. Swainston he said there was a grape-sized polyp in my uterus and that I would need to have it removed by preforming a hysteroscopy. He said that a lot of times, they polyps can act as an IUD and prevent implantation from taking place.
So, tomorrow I will be calling the surgical coordinator at the surgical center to schedule that procedure. I am so glad that they did find something that could be fixed. It is so much better know that there is something that I can do physically to help myself, and not just wonder why I am not getting pregnant.

The Davis' Visit

Our sweet friends Alex and Danielle were in town for a work conference Alex had to go to. They were staying at the Luxor, but we still were able to spend a lot of time with them. Between his meetings, the boys were still able to find time to go golfing twice, and Danielle and I were able to go shopping, and hang out anoher time for a whole afternoon, we met them at The Luxor to swim one afternoon, and before they left, we even snuck in a dinner. They are so awesome, and we all get along so well, They have known us since our first date since they were one of the couples who set us up on that blind date. We have been through everything together, and we miss them like crazy all the time! Their sweet baby Kate has a sweet spot in Easton's heart, he still calls out "KIIITE!" for her, maybe one day we can use these photos in a wedding video for them!
