favorite new music!

hello everyone! i just wanted to tell you all to listen to my new favorite song, it's in my playlist at the bottom of this blog, it's at the top and it's called "Sky" by Joshua Radin and Ingrid Michaelson. i love it! well, i love all of his music, but this is just one of my favorites, it's about horrible dreams that feel so real and when you wake up they really are not! I think it's really cute...kinda a weird way to say "i love you"....but cute. so i hope you all enjoy it as much as i do!

quarks

it's taken me awhile to get to this tag because i have been thinking it over very carefully until i had my top 6 quirks picked (there weren't many to choose from...ha!) so what this post is, is 6 of the weird quarky things i always do:

1. Things must be organized! When I get home from work all I really want to do it relax, but somehow I always find things that “have” to be picked up ASAP. For instance if there is one bowl in the sink, I end up cleaning the whole kitchen, while I’m doing that I’ll find a paper that needs to be put away in the file upstairs, so I end up re-organizing the whole file, then the room that it’s in, etc.

2. When I watch “my” shows (Grey’s Anatomy, The Biggest Loser, America’s Next Top Model) I go into a zone where I will not be disturbed, everything else in my world is put on hold for that hour, I ignore my phone, the Internet, sometimes even Ryan, poor guy, he still loves me though!

3. When we eat out at restaurants I always order something that comes with fries, and if it doesn’t come with them, then I substitute something for them. I figure that I can’t make them at home, so I might as well enjoy them while I’m out.

4. I have to wash my hair everyday. Some people can go a day or two before they wash it, but I feel like a complete slob if I don’t, I have naturally oily hair so I feel very self conscious of it if it’s not cleaned every day. (this is one of my quirks that I wish I could do without, it’s quite the nuisance.)

5. I set my alarm 10-15 minutes before i need to get up. As the alarm is going off I don’t even press the snooze, I know it will go off again 5 minutes from then, so I just lay in my comfy position listening to it until I’m awake and know that I can’t procrastinate the shower any more. Ryan hates this one, haha. (also my alarm tone is one of the most annoying songs in the world, it came with the phone I got from my friend “This is the way I live, big boys still hitting somethin’ somethin’, got my money lay low and chill…”

6. I always always always wear earrings. When I was little my parents wouldn’t let me get my ears pierced until I was 12, and I always felt so homely and boyish without them, so once I FINALLY got them pierced I subconsciously always made sure I had in earrings so I wouldn’t look like a boy, and it’s stuck with me and I still do it.

ok, so now that you know all about me and my weird ways, it's your turn! i tag anyone who wants to share their deeps dark secrets with the blogging world!

the office

we love the office. my friend at work let me borrow seasons 1-3 on DVD, and we are half way through season 2 right now, and we can't get enough of it! i don't know why we have never watched this before, but we are DEFINITELY dedicated to it now.

bathroom updates

ok, so we're slowly getting things done around here. we have our new bed ordered (a nice new king with a really nice bed frame) we're picking that up tomorrow. the tables are taking longer than we thought (sanding and staining) but the little decorations around the house are getting done! we hung up some pictures today, and the bathrooms are now officially DONE! so here are some photos up the upstairs bathroom:

Also, I got a hand towel rack for the bathroom, but i didn't think about how it is supposed to be used before i got it. (i didn't know towel racks could be confusing) so the top picture is of the rack, and the second picture is of how we're currently using it. i don't know if this is the right way, but it's not too convenient, but the rack is too short for the towels to hang off of the hooks, so i don't know what else to do with it:

now for the second bathroom, it's just a normal little bathroom, but i didn't know what i wanted to put on the walls. but what i did know is that i didn't want to go out and spend money on new pictures and decorations for it. so i just took the pictures from the bathroom in the old apartment and painted the cream frames with a little bit of some goldish paint. the first picture is the "before" frame color, the others are the "after". i think it turned out really good, and now they don't clash on the white walls! so here are some pictures of my afternoon craft project:

and don't you worry! ryan was doing his own afternoon craft activity of staining the shelves for the living room, they look great, and those pictures will come later!

10-Do you have kids? How many? none.

19- How old is he? he'll be 23 on Oct. 10

we're here!

alright, so once we got home from our anniversary, the packing began. we did lots of dumpster diving in cardboard recycling bins looking for big huge boxes! and then every night last week consisted of a couple hours dedicated to packing. We got most of it done by Friday night, and then Saturday morning came (along with our amazing friends, Kevin, Greg and Karly and their helpful trucks) and the loading began. It took us 4 and half hours to get everything moved out, moved in, and cleaned. Then everyone left and Ryan and I were stuck in a sea of boxes.
Then we began the unpacking. Ryan started in the laundry room setting up the washer and dryer (by the way, who knew you have to buy a NEW cord for a dryer every time you move? we didn't) and I started in the kitchen unloading the boxes. about 6 hours later, we made a late night run to Smiths to get some groceries, made a midnight frozen pizza dinner, and then hit the sack. We woke up in the morning, came downstairs and were a little disappointed in the small dent we'd made in the pile of boxes the night before. But by the end of the day, and after a lot of hard work, everything was unpacked, put away, and the boxes were back in the recycling bins where they belong! We LOVE our new house!

The first picture is of some boxes in our old apartment, this was after only one night of packing, I couldn't get all the boxes to fit in one picture after we were all done with the packing!

the rest of the pictures are all the before pictures of our new place...my goal this week: to get all the pictures hung, the tables sanded and stained, and get a couple more furniture pieces (you can tell our bedroom is desperate for help! it ECHOES!) so enjoy these before pictures....I want you to appreciate the after pictures :)

happy anniversary!

Well, over Labor Day Weekend, Ryan and I celebrated our first anniversary. We left Logan on Friday afternoon, and drove all day to Mesquite NV. It was so much fun, and SOOO relaxing! At one point Ryan even said "I think my back hurts from laying down so much all weekend!" haha! It really was great, we spent all day at the pool, and then we would eat at the yummy buffet's...omelet's at home will never be the same! The funniest thing though, was that on our actual anniversary, we were out at the pool and the life guards kicked everyone out because a huge thunder cloud was coming our way, so after about an hour and half of being out there, we headed back to the room, it was still too early to start getting ready for dinner, so we decided to watch some TV first. All the sudden...BOOM! it sounded like the TV exploded, and all the power went out! it was POURING rain outside! We waited a couple hours for it to come back on and took a nap, then decided we better attempt at getting ready, so we each took a shower in the pitch dark, and got ready....we headed out the door for dinner (with my really wet hair...very attractive for our anniversary dinner) and the hallways were so dark! No emergency lights at all....well, I guess they did have glow sticks hanging from the ceiling on yarn, if you consider that "emergency lighting". So we thought the whole hotel's power had gone down...oh no, the whole casino was flashing and dinging as if it there was no rain at all! So everyone and their dog was trying to get into the buffet in the casino, and it wasn't worth the wait, so we ended up driving up to St. George for dinner, wet hair and all! We had a delicious dinner at Outback Steakhouse, and went to a movie and then headed back to the Oasis! Let's just say, we defiantly had a memorable first anniversary!

We're still in love, and as happy as could be!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US BEBY!
