Easton turns 2!

My Sweet Easton boy is two! I can't believe it! He has been the biggest joy in our lives. He is such a good kid, and even though he started 'acting two' overnight, I think we will still keep him! He is so funny, strong, smart and athletic.

  • He weighs 33.14 lb. (90-95%)
  • He is 36 inches tall (75-90%)
  • His head is 50.5 cm. (90-95%)
  • He is wearing 3T clothes
  • A very picky eater! Still only eats chicken nuggets, and grilled chicken for his meats. If we are lucky he might take a single bites of a hot dog. He doesn't eat vegetables unless they are in a puree food pouch ("sauce" as we call them).
  • He loves his fruits, juice, chocolate milk, and treats. Anything crunchy, like chips, he will love. He loves to eat tortilla chips dipped in guacamole (let's be real though....pretty much no guacamole, he just pretends to dip them with us.)
  • He is talking up a storm, and can make two word sentences.
  • If you ask him how old he is, he will respond "I tuuu!" and hold up his hand with his two fingers glued together, he hasn't figured out how to hold them up while seperated.
  • We have a couple 'naughty' word slip ups: Clock, and Fork...you can use your imagination! And for some reason he loves to yell these words! In Sacrament meeting he always has to point out the clock on the wall, and I want to die!
  • He LOVES Despicable Me, calling is "asipcible me?!" He thinks Dr Gru, and the min'mins, and loves to shout 'freeze ray!' when Gru shoots it.
  • He is doing good with potty training if I would be more diligent about it. He doesn't like to sit on his little potty seat anymore, if he needs to pee, he will stand, or sit backwards on the potty. And to poop, he will sit either backwards or forwards. He knows when he needs to go, and tells me, The other day he even held it for about 15 minutes until we got home. (wahoo!!)
  • He is really good at basketball, his t-ball, and is getting better at catching things.
  • He likes the watch the Gi-Gi's with his dad. (The Giants) and recognized Buster Posey on a poster while we were out awhile ago, by pointed and saying "a posey?"
For his party this year, we did a big pool party with all our friends here. We grilled hot dogs for everyone, had chips, watermelon, carrots and celery, and juices and waters. The kids loved it, and afterward we had a big cake I made. I was so proud of this cake! It turned our just how I wanted it to, and Easton loved it! He thought the cake was the party, so when Ryan brought it out he chased after him while yelling "THE PARTY THE PARTY!!!"
He was so spoiled this year, and got so many toys and cards from friends, grandparents, aunts, and us. He got a bubble machine, a Leap Pad 2, pool toys, a new beach towel, money, an animal trains, monster trucks, cars, Mickey/Disney toys, a Mr. Potato Head, a ball, a Mickey movie, and much more!

On his actual birthday, Monday, Ryan started school back up. So I took him to the Henderson Multigen pool with Haley and her kids. He wasn't too much a fan of it, I don't think he likes all the water spraying on him and dumping on him. Afterwards we went home, and he took a nap, and then when he was up, Ryan had gotten home and we took him to a movie. We went to Despicable Me 2. He was so excited for the BIG TV! We got him his on movie snack pack, which he thought was incredible. He loved to sit on his own seat and be a big kid. He ended up watching most of the movie on Ryan's lap, but he didn't last the whole time. He got restless and was running around the theater, so we took him home early.

We had a super fun weekend celebrating our little guy. He is the best, and we can't wait to keep watching him grow!

19 months going on 19 years...

Where did my baby go? Everyone warned me that it would go by fast, and I didn't believe you on all those sleepless nights of crying, the blowouts, the feedings, the scheduling around multiple naptimes....but I believe you now! I swear he grew up while I was blinking one afternoon, not even overnight, it really seemed that fast. Easton RULES our house, and we are happy to let him at this point. He always keeps us on our toes and is learning new words or tricks daily. He is quite the manipulator, and he already knows how to play dumb to get his way. He is my best friend, and I love him to death and am so glad I get to spend all day with him. As much as I love my alone time, I love even more that I'm the one he wants at the end of his day. There isn't a better feeling in the world.

He has learned a lot of new 'words'....I put it in quotes because a lot of his little language is only understood by me and Ryan, but that's all the matters right? Here is a list of his growing vocabulary:

  • Uh-Oh
  • Beh-by (baby)
  • Mum (mom)
  • Papa
  • Kah (car)
  • duce (juice)
  • pwEE! (please)
  • bah (ball)
  • ooop. (basketball hoop/basketball on tv/basketball court)
  • iiice (eyes)
  • gan-gu (thank you)
  • teass (cheese)
  • saaw (sock)
  • shooos (shoes)
  • twoo! (if you say 'one' he will reply 'twooo')
  • Bye-E.
He knows where a lot more body parts are:
  • belly (lifts up his, or your shirt and pats it twice)
  • ears (flips them with one hand)
  • eyes (pokes them)
  • nose (picks it)
  • mouth (plays with his tongue)
  • cheeks (slaps both cheeks)
  • toes (sits down, then holds all ten toes)
  • hair (pats his head)
  • hands (points to his palm)
Tricks include:
  • giving 'knucks'
  • gives high fives
  • Says shh, with his finger over his mouth....but it's always followed with a scream, he doesn't understand the concept.
  • Says "Woo Who!" while waving his arms like crazy.... Trying to say "WOOT WOOT", while making the 'raise the roof' arm action, too funny!
Some of his quarks are:
  • This. Kid. LOVES. Garbage. OK, that's an understatement  He is OBSESSED with the garbage. Anywhere we go (doctor, store, post office, etc) he will find the trash can, and carry it around. He insists on throwing away all his diapers by himself before getting the new diaper on. He loves to carry the full trash bags outside to the big trash can. He will beg for his snacks to be opened, not to eat, just so he can throw the wrapper away...he does this during sacrament meeting at church and will throw a tantrum until you take him out the trash can in the hallway.
  • He is a clean freak and has inherited my OCD. When I tell him we are going outside, he will clean up all his toys, turn off the tv, and sit on the step for me to put on his shoes, then he will grab Toby and wait by the door while sucking his thumb. He also picks up and puts away all his toys in the tub when we drain out the water. And like I mentioned...the garbage thing. He finds teeny tiny pieces of garbage on the floor and throws them away for me. He is a human vacuum cleaner for my floors! Who needs a dog when I have him!?

12 months old!

My sweet little Easton is a year old!!! When people say that time flies, they are NOT lying! I really can't believe how fast a year has gone. He has been such a gem, and we have been beyond spoiled with such a good, happy and easy baby! Seriously, we have been so lucky to have a baby sleep every night, through the night since 9 weeks old, and put himself to sleep after we put him in bed wide awake. He has always been a good eater, and only gotten sick twice in the whole year. Both times, it was only a day or two long. He is the best! Some of the things he has been up to include:

  • walking 7-8 steps between mom and dad, and cruising around everything he can pull himself up on.
  • He weighs 27 pounds, 90%
  • He is 31 inches tall, 90%
  • His head is 15 inches, 90-95%
  • He switched to whole milk at 11.5 months, and didn't put up any fuss about the switch.
  • He drinks about 4 ounces milk in the morning, and about 4-6 ounces at night.
  • He eats 3 full meals in between bottles
  • Still can't quite tip the sippy cup enough to drink out of.
  • He loves Cheez-Its, Goldfish, Veggie Straws, strawberries, cheese, graham crackers, greek yogurt, go gurts, oreos, apple and cran-apple juice
  • He loves putting things 'away' like snacks back into the cups, or toys into buckets or his basket.
  • He is a great rebounder for Ryan, when Ryan shots the basketball into the hoop, Easton loves to chase down the ball and bring it back.
  • He love love loves reading books. He will pick one out, and crawl over quickly, throw the book on your lap, and then climb on top
  • He knows how to give "knucks" and sometimes high-fives.
  • Gives "bonks" by hitting your foreheads together
  • He loves to point and say "iss" for "this"
  • He says "aye dah!" for "dad"
  • "om om om" is for "mom"
  • He got his first fever on his first birthday, so sad! Luckily it only lasted that night and into the next morning.
  • wearing 18 month clothes
  • Just moved into size 5 diapers

11 months!

Easton had his 11 month birthday on Friday! He is getting so big, and pretty much a year old! It's crazy! We have joked for a couple months, that he is like a toddler who is stuck in a baby's body...and that is more true now than ever! He just wants to do everything like the big kids, and loves watching and playing with bigger kids, not so into the babies though!

  • weighs around 27 lbs.
  • has 5 teeth...three on the bottom, two on top.
  • mastered climbing the stairs, and hasn't ever stumbled or fallen down
  • Toby is officially his best friend! We drove home from Utah, and tied Toby to his carseat. Best. Idea. Ever,. He didn't cry even once the whole drive!
  • He is getting over his 'shy' spurt. He just needs a couple minutes to warm up to a new person, then he will be your best friend, especially if you will hold him and his friend Toby.
  • He loves to look out the window
  • He is a forward facer in the car now, and thinks looking at the lights out the front window is pretty great.
  • He is a very good walker if you help hold his hands/hand/or holds onto a piece of furniture.
  • This week will be his first without mom or dad at night...we are going on a cruise, and are excited...and nervous. Grandma and Grandpa will be the sitters!
  • He knows how to drink through a straw!
  • I finally found some shoes that fit his chubby little feeties. So his first shoes are a size 5, velcro sandal, camo print, and very cute.
  • He had another haircut, that makes 5 or 6?
  • He says "ah dah" for everything, so we think he says a lot of phrases, like: "all done" "hi dad" and "hot dog" :)
  • We are working on waving and clapping still, he just doesn't have any interest in doing anything on his own, he just smiles til you help him do anything...smirky little guy!
  • He is wearing 12-18 months, and 18-24 month clothes.
  • He loves peek-a-boo!

10 months!

Happy ten month birthday today little bubby!!! I officially have a toddler I think. He is into double digit months, and I got a sample of toddler formula in the mail today. What happened to my babe?! He is still changing every day, I shouldn't be surprised because it's going to keep happening. But it truly is amazing to watch him grow up!

  • His weight, is a mystery, our scale broke because he thought it was a toy....it is not.
  • His height, also a mystery, I'll have to check tomorrow morning.
  • He is starting to love his tables foods a lot more, he likes:
    • cheese
    • ritz crackers
    • saltines
    • graham crackers (a lot!)
    • Veggie Straws
    • greek yogurt
    • cranberry raspberry juice (with water)
    • white grape juice (with water)
    • pineapple
    • manderain oranges
    • peaches
  • He doesn't like
    • berries
    • BANANAS (weird kid right?)
    • straight juices, they are too much sweetness or something for him, and make him cough.
    • spaghetti noodles
  • He is still crawling everywhere, and FAST, we literally have to run across the room to close the gate before he escapes if it is left open.
  • He got into the cupboard of pans for the first time and loves it!
  • He likes to stand up next to anything he can get his hands on
  • After he stands up, he cruises around everything, and is a quick little walker (with help of holding on)
  • He is getting bored with his toys and wants anything we have, especially the remotes and phones still.
  • He has stood on his own 3 or 4 times, but falls to his bum after a couple seconds.
  • He is starting to hate shopping in his stroller. Sad day for the mom who loves to shop and browse.
  • Luckily he still likes the grocery cart. Sidenote: The other day at Costco I got a sample of frozen go-gurt for him, and he LOVED it! Ate it so fast, and as soon as it was gone, he screamed for more.
  • He is still a mama/papa's boy anytime we are around. But once we leave him with a babysitter, they say he calms right down and is fine the rest of the time.
  • His two little bottom teeth have left their mark on the crib! It's a giant chew toy to him.
  • We've had to start tying Toby's tail (his tiger stuffed animal/sleeping helper) to the crib slats so Easton won't throw him over and then cry. He thinks it's a pretty fun game to toss him, but then he wants him right back....hence the tying (which he doesn't love so much either, but it's better than no Toby)
  • He still is sleeping great through the night. Goes down around 8:30, and waits for us to get him out of bed around 7:30. We still don't know exactly when he wakes up, because he never cries for us to come get him, he just waits patiently for us to grab him.
  • Usually takes two naps per day, around 9:30 and 2:30. Sometimes it's just one nap around 12.

9 months!

Easton had his nine month birthday on Easter Sunday! We were headed up to Utah that afternoon, so I'm late getting to this post. He is getting so big and so smart! We are blown away at everything he can do, and that he has figured it all out on his own!

  • Weight: 25 lb. 1 oz. : 90-95%
  • Height: 30 1/4 inches : 90-95%
  • Head circumference: 46 cm. : 60-75%
  • He mastered crawling in one week. He went from a slow creep, by pulling with his arms, then pushing with his legs, to full fledged crawling so quick. And he is VERY quick at crawling! He can scoot across a room really fast, and is always at my feet.
  • We got a gate to put at the entry to the family room so he can't escape, we feel like we have an official 'kid' house now.
  • He eats anything we put in front of him. Except he is funny about bananas sometimes. Also, we started giving him pieces of whole wheat toast, and he got diarrhea (TMI, sorry) Have any of you other moms had that problem? I'm thinking it might be too much gluten for his belly maybe?
  • He has two teeth now. The second bottom tooth popped up about a week after the first.
  • He has turned into a momma's boy overnight! My parents were in town, and then we went up to Utah and saw a lot more family and friends, and Easton had to be on my lap the WHOLE time. He'd whimper if I was only in eyesight, and scream scream scream if I left the room or someone else held him. Luckily, when Ryan picked us up at the airport, he went right to him!
  • He is starting to pull himself up onto things already. It's scariest in the tub when he is so slick! And he has a couple bruises from face planting onto things.
  • I don't think walking is too far away!! He just needs to strengthen his legs a little more.
  • He loves reading his stories. His favorite books are "That's Not My Tractor" and "Where's My Bear?" He thinks turning the pages is the greatest!
  • He's been to the pool a couple times since it opened, and is luckily a water baby, good thing, we'll be living there this summer!
  • He is still fascinated with buttons...remotes, phones, the PS3 and DirecTV box...anything.
  • He likes to play peek-a-boo with blankets, towels, and burp rags.
  • "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is the magic song. Anytime is he crying uncontrollably, he'll calm right down if I sing it. Even when he is in the car and can't see me, I must have a lovely voice...ha!
  • He is wearing 12-18 month clothes, size 4 diapers, and doesn't fit in any shoes. Ryan's mom said she had to find him special extra wide shoes, and I'm afraid I'll have the same problem, his feet are little bricks!

8 months

Oh baby! This kiddo turned 8 months old today! He is so much fun, and I have to say, I think this is my favorite stage yet. He is old enough to sit up and entertain himself, and interact with us. Yet he is still young enough to stay in one room and stay put for the most part. We of course just eat him up everyday! Here are some of his milestones:
  • He still of course is obsessed with bath time!
  • Weighs about 23 lb.
  • He is loving his big kid food. He's moved up to stage 3 Gerber foods, so things with small chunks of little carrots and stuff. He doesn't love chicken noodle, and he is getting more and more of a sweet tooth. He likes the yogurt blends, and especially loves the Gerber graduate yogurt melts and fruit and veggie melts.
  • He wants to crawl so badly!
  • He is great at doing push ups, especially in the tub when his body weight isn't as heavy.
  • He doesn't like his bottles anymore besides kind of in the morning. But bedtime bottles are the WORST to try feeding to him, he fights you the whole time. very frustrating.
  • He got one tooth! The bottom left one, it's adorable and you can only see the very top of it, but we're very proud of him...one down, so many to go!
  • He knows how to put the ball into his giraffe toy. It's a plastic giraffe with a big hole on his head and arms for the ball to go into, and we've worked hard on teaching him how to do it, at first he had no idea what it was, and now he knows exactly what to do with the ball...a future basketball player?? (side note: he likes to put the ball in with his left hand only. If he picks it up with his right, he will switch hands before putting it in.)
  • We started trying to teach him baby sign language this month. Just "more" and "eat" and he looks at us like we are crazy every time we do it. We kind of feel like it's like training a puppy....the blank "you're crazy" stare.
  • He sleeps in the most crazy positions, and like his mom, loves his belly and side! His little feet get caught in the crib sometimes, and it looks so funny!
  • He sucks on everything he get his mouth on, then just gnaws at it!
  • He is SO SO proud of himself when he rides in the grocery cart or sits in the high chairs in restaurants.
